To "Shelter In Place" is to take refuge indoors for a few hours, sealing out outside air that contains chemical, biological or radiological contaminants. The term is also sometimes used to refer to sheltering indoors from extreme weather events. Given our current toxic sociopolitical environment and personal struggles with increasing anxiety while working on this album, it seemed an appropriate title.

All but two songs on this album were improvised live on Eurorack modular synthesizer without sequencing, in a single take. Rhythmic elements came from clock dividers, Euclidean pattern generators, Boolean logic and other algorithmic sources. The other two involved some MIDI sequencing and added a couple of software synthesizers to the Eurorack gear.
