about

"Vox Humana" is one of the oldest standard pipe organ stops, meant to resemble a human choir. It's nice to think of this as one of the first examples of imitative sound synthesis in history, but to be fair, bird-like flute song no doubt predates it by centuries.

This album doesn't imitate anything in particular, but is composed of inhuman, abstract voices. Synthesizers are more organic and characterful than many give them credit for.

To me, the beauty of electronic music is the partnership between the human spirit and the inhuman -- but not "lifeless" -- mathematics and physics of the instrument.
